- You are marrying after the start of 2027 and children are coming.The resort becomes adults only on 10 January 2027, welcoming guests aged 18 and over, so a wedding after that date cannot include children.
- Your guests want to pick their own hotels and lengths of stay.To hold event space, the resort's wedding FAQ requires a room block covering at least 80 percent of your guests for a minimum of three nights.
- You want the party outdoors and late.Outdoor events have to finish by 10:30 pm under local regulation, so carrying the party on later means moving it into an indoor venue.
- You have a large guest list.At 173 rooms the property is small for one. The wedding FAQ allows up to 20 percent of guests to stay next door at the adjacent all inclusive Hilton, subject to availability.
- You want a package price you can compare against other venues.There are no set wedding packages. Everything is quoted as a bespoke proposal against a food and beverage minimum, with a separate one off setup fee for outdoor venues.
- You were hoping the venue team would run the planning.The resort strongly recommends hiring your own destination wedding planner, so planning is its own budget line rather than something the venue absorbs.

An open air beachfront terrace used for ceremonies as well as cocktails and dinner.

For very small weddings the resort will stage the ceremony, cocktail hour and dinner for up to 10 people on the Presidential Suite terrace, with a two night minimum stay.

Arrival, and where you get ready

- Roughly 20 to 30 minutes south on Highway 307, then a long private drive in through the mangroves.
- 6.3Arriving at
- The Highway 307 corridor just south of Cancun airport, outside the Cancun hotel zone. The resort is marketed under both the Cancun and Riviera Maya names.
- 6.4Tell guests
- Waldorf Astoria Cancun and Waldorf Astoria Riviera Maya are the same hotel, sharing one street address and one phone number, so the two names people will meet online are one place. Up to 20 percent of the group may be placed next door at the adjacent all inclusive Hilton, subject to availability.
- 6.5At the airport
- Ignore anyone offering a ride between the arrivals door and the curb, however official they look. Only pre-arranged and federally authorized transport may pick up at the terminal, and the walk-up offers are where the overcharge stories come from. Ride-hailing apps work for the trip back to the airport but are unreliable for arrivals, so do not plan a pickup around one.
- 6.6Book the drive before you fly
- Reserve a private transfer in advance: the driver meets you with a name sign, at a fixed price agreed up front, and tracks your flight if it runs late. How the light works at Waldorf Astoria Riviera Maya
The beach and the guest room balconies face east, so the sun comes up straight out of the Caribbean and the strongest ocean light of the day is early morning. By late afternoon the sand and the pavilion drop into soft open shade while the sky over the water still holds colour, which is why the resort presents the Wedding Pavilion as a golden hour ceremony spot rather than a place to put the sun behind the couple. Actual sunset falls inland, behind the property and its mangrove reserve, so a sunset backdrop means turning away from the sea or working from the pool decks and the western side of the resort. The ballroom is glazed floor to ceiling and stays bright well into the afternoon, so it holds up as a rain plan without feeling like a windowless box.
The best time to start your ceremony
Arch's own rule for this coast is to begin the ceremony about 90 minutes before sunset, which leaves the vows in soft light and still keeps time for portraits afterwards. Start times are rounded down to the half hour. Riviera Maya, Quintana Roo. UTC-5 all year: the state left daylight saving in 2015. Times are town level, so they run within a couple of minutes of the property.
