- You have children in the wedding party.The property is adults only at 18 and over, so guests cannot bring children and any family travelling with kids will need a different resort.
- You are picturing the rooftop ceremony.The Sky Terrace is sold as an add on to the wedding packages rather than included, so a rooftop ceremony carries an extra line on the quote. One directory lists it from 3,000 USD.
- You are bringing your own photographer.Royalton charges a fee for vendors it has no contract with, published at 850 US dollars, which is worth pricing into the photography budget before you compare quotes.
- You want a lot of choice on the property itself.At 458 suites the resort is compact for the hotel zone, and reviewers note limited pool options, fewer wedding venues than neighbouring properties and inconsistent service.
- Your date sits between May and October.Sargassum season runs roughly May through October, so a summer date can mean the beach does not look the way it does in the brochure.
- You are aiming at December or January.The weather then is excellent, but it is the peak of the tourist season, with the highest prices of the year and crowded beaches and pools.

Only pre-arranged and federally authorized transport may pick up at the terminal, and the walk-up offers are where the overcharge stories come from. Ride-hailing apps work for the trip back to the airport but are unreliable for arrivals, so do not plan a pickup around one.

How the light works here
The resort sits at Punta Cancun on the Caribbean side of the hotel zone, which is why its ocean view terrace is named the Sunrise Terrace: the sun comes up out of the water in front of the property and goes down behind it over the lagoon. That makes a sunrise session on this beach quiet and spectacular, and it means there is no over water sunset to build a ceremony around. A late afternoon ceremony on the sand sits in soft light with the sun behind the buildings rather than in anyone's eyes. The Sky Terrace on the eighteenth floor sits above everything else on the property and holds the last warm light longer than the beach does, and once it is dark the Cancun skyline becomes the backdrop instead of the sea. The Sunset Terrace is laid out theater style on a wooden floor, which keeps guests level and gives clean sightlines down the aisle when the sand is not the plan.
The best time to start your ceremony
Arch's own rule for this coast is to begin the ceremony about 90 minutes before sunset, which leaves the vows in soft light and still keeps time for portraits. Start times are rounded to the half hour for these coordinates. Cancun hotel zone, Quintana Roo. UTC-5 all year: the state left daylight saving in 2015. Times are town level, so they run within a couple of minutes of the property.
