Ceremonies here take place on the open sand facing the water, and on this coast the beaches face east, which means the sun rises over the Caribbean and sets inland behind the jungle rather than over the sea. In practice the beach is bright and open through the morning, and by late afternoon the warm light arrives across the sand from behind the tree line instead of off the water. Setting the ceremony about 60 to 90 minutes before sunset puts the vows and the family portraits inside the softest part of the day. After dark the property is genuinely dark: the rental includes basic ambient lighting and power outlets only, so how the reception looks depends entirely on the lighting your team brings in. The main palapa gives a covered, textured anchor for the evening, while the open sand and palms give clean portrait backgrounds with no other guests in the frame.

The best time to start your ceremony

Arch's own rule for this coast is to begin the ceremony about 90 minutes before sunset, which leaves the vows in soft light and still keeps time for portraits afterwards.
