02Why couples choose it

What couples choose it for

  1. 2.1

Every room is a suite of more than 1,000 square feet with butler service included, so the whole room block sits at one standard and nobody in your party is negotiating upgrade tiers.

  2. 2.2

The Sky Wedding Gazebo is held exclusively for ceremonies and the Sky Terrace takes the cocktail hour or the dinner, each for up to 300 guests.

  3. 2.3

It has a dedicated Catholic chapel on the property, the Santa Monica Chapel, built in colonial-style Mexican architecture for up to 70 guests, which is rare on this stretch of coast.

  4. 2.4

The resort is split into an adults-only Club section and a Family Club open to all ages, so a guest list with young children and a guest list that wants a quiet pool can both be housed well.

  5. 2.5

It opened in stages over the 2025 to 2026 winter, so the buildings, suites and event spaces are new, and guests can also use the adjoining Majestic Elegance Costa Mujeres, including its Blossom Spa.

04The honest case against

When another venue fits better

Every point is drawn from the venue's own published terms and documented weddings. None of it makes this a bad venue.

  • You are bringing a crew rather than a single supplier. The outside vendor fee is billed per vendor, per service, per day, so a team covering both photo and video, or working a welcome dinner as well as the wedding, is charged more than once, plus USD 90 for each additional crew member.
  • You are counting on that vendor fee being waived.Published sources disagree on whether housing your photographer at the resort waives it, so the waiver has to be confirmed in writing before it goes into your budget.
  • Friends of yours are staying elsewhere on the coast.Guests who are not staying at the resort are capped at ten per cent of your wedding, and each one has to buy a day pass that runs until the reception ends and depends on how full the resort is.
  • The rooftop is the reason you are looking here. The Sky venues carry a location fee of USD 1,900 on top of the wedding package, with a fifty per cent non-refundable deposit due when you reserve them.
  • You want to see the actual room before you commit. Some of the resort's own 2026 wedding collateral still uses renderings marked Concept Only, so current photographs of the finished spaces, and a reconfirmation of every price, are worth having before you sign.
05Before you book

The honest considerations

  • The outside vendor fee is billed per vendor, per service, per day, plus USD 90 per additional crew member, so a photo and video team is charged more than once.
  • Sources disagree on whether housing your photographer at the resort waives the vendor fee; get the waiver confirmed in writing.
  • Off property guests are capped at 10% of your wedding and each needs a day pass, valid 9am until the reception ends, subject to occupancy.
  • The rooftop Sky venues carry a USD 1,900 location fee on top of the package, with a 50% non-refundable deposit due at reservation.
  • Outdoor events start no earlier than 6:30pm and must finish by 11:00pm, and any private event has a 20 paying guest minimum.
  • The resort is new enough that some 2026 wedding collateral still shows Concept Only renderings; get current photos and reconfirm every price.
06Getting here

Arrival, and where you get ready

6.1Fly into
Cancun International (CUN).
6.2Then drive
About 33 to 35 km north on the Punta Sam road, roughly 40 to 50 minutes by private transfer.
6.3Arriving at
Costa Mujeres, north of Cancun and away from the Hotel Zone.
6.4Tell guests
The resort adjoins Majestic Elegance Costa Mujeres and opened in stages over the 2025 to 2026 winter, so send the full name Majestic Mirage along with the resort's own directions.
6.5At the airport
Ignore anyone offering a ride between the arrivals door and the curb, however official they look. Only pre-arranged and federally authorized transport may pick up at the terminal, and the walk-up offers are where the overcharge stories come from. Ride-hailing apps work for the trip back to the airport but are unreliable for arrivals, so do not plan a pickup around one.
6.6Book the drive before you fly
Reserve a private transfer in advance: the driver meets you with a name sign, at a fixed price agreed up front, and tracks your flight if it runs late. We use Private Driver Cancun, WhatsApp +52 984 132 3989, mixofcultures.com. USA Transfers and eTransfers are two long-established operators for larger guest lists.

Where you get ready

Details below are venue-published.

  • Bridal SuiteLarge wardrobe mirror.
  • Churchill Groom's LoungeClothing rack for hanging jackets; bar with premium liquor selection; large screen TV; Play Station with games including NFL, NBA, FIFA; Bluetooth speaker.

What to ask the wedding office

  1. 6.7

Is the outside vendor fee charged per vendor or per service on our date, and what is the total for our two person photo and video team?

  2. 6.8

Will you confirm in writing whether housing our photo and video team at the resort waives the vendor fee?

  3. 6.9

What is the day pass price for our date, and how many off property guests will you allow given occupancy that week?

  4. 6.10

Does the 20 paying guest minimum apply to a private event our size, and how late can outdoor music run before the 11:00pm finish?

  5. 6.11

Is the USD 1,900 Sky location fee fixed for our date, and what happens to our deposit if we move to another space?

07Light and timing

How the light works at Majestic Mirage Costa Mujeres

Costa Mujeres sits on the Caribbean side of the peninsula, so this coast faces east: the sun rises over the water and sets behind the resort and the mainland. There is no shot of the sun dropping into the sea behind you at the altar, but by late afternoon the beach, the gazebos and the rooftop fall into open shade while the sky over the water stays bright, so nobody squints through the vows. A ceremony set about ninety minutes before official sunset puts the vows in that soft light and still leaves room for family groups and couple portraits. The sky here turns pastel rather than fiery, and blue hour is genuinely good, because the shallow turquoise water keeps glowing and the white sand bounces light back onto faces.

The best time to start your ceremony

Arch's own rule for this coast is to begin the ceremony about 90 minutes before sunset, which leaves the vows in soft light and still keeps time for portraits afterwards. Start times are rounded down to the half hour. Costa Mujeres, Quintana Roo. UTC-5 all year: the state left daylight saving in 2015. Times are town level, so they run within a couple of minutes of the property.
