- Beach Gazebo A white gazebo on the sand reached by a wooden walkway, which gives you the beach setting and the sound of the water without anyone having to walk through sand in heels.
- Garden Gazebo A white pavilion ringed by a shallow reflecting pool near the main lobby, with chairs set all around the structure, for up to 150 guests.
- Beach Area An open stretch of private white sand set up to your own plan, and the largest ceremony space on the property at up to 450 guests.
- Ballroom Terrace An open-air oceanview terrace off the Wedding Ballroom, set for ceremonies of up to 200 guests, and the only outdoor space where music is permitted until 1am.
Reception
- Sky Lounge A rooftop lounge with partial Caribbean views holding 150 for a cocktail hour or 120 seated for dinner, and the usual pairing with a Sky Wedding Gazebo ceremony.
- Sky Terrace An open-air rooftop terrace for up to 70 at a cocktail hour or 30 seated for dinner.
- Beach Dinner on the sand under the stars, with the largest reception capacity on the property and music permitted until 11pm.
- Piano Bar Terrace An open terrace with partial ocean and garden views, seating 70 for a cocktail hour or a dinner reception, with music permitted until 11pm.
- Wedding Ballroom An indoor ballroom of 4,390 square feet seating 200 banquet style or 350 for cocktails, and one of only two spaces where music runs until 1am.
- Costa Mujeres Ballroom The largest indoor room at 8,104 square feet, seating 300 banquet style or 650 for cocktails, and divisible into the Isla Blanca, Isla Contoy and Isla Mujeres salons.
- Semi-private restaurant dinners Mar House seats 80, Flavours 60 and Don Jaume 40 for a reserved dinner, which is what the included package covers before you upgrade to a fully private reception.
The honest case against
When another venue fits better
Every point below comes from the venue's own published terms and from documented weddings. None of it makes this a bad venue. It makes it the wrong one for some couples, and better to know now.
- You are bringing a team that shoots both photo and video.The outside vendor fee is USD 1,000 per vendor, per service, per day, plus USD 90 for each additional crew member. Photo and video count as two separate services, and covering a welcome dinner as well as the wedding is charged again.
- You are counting on that fee being waived.Whether having your photographer stay at the resort waives it depends on your package, and published sources disagree: the brochure says a three night vendor stay waives it in Mexico, one agency says photo and video are excluded, and the 2026 South Asian package PDF waives it including photography.
- You want the rooftop.The rooftop Sky venues carry a location fee of USD 1,700 on top of the wedding package, with a fifty per cent non-refundable deposit due when you reserve the date.
- You want the party to keep going where it started.Music curfews vary sharply by space. The gazebos and beach bar stop at 10pm, the beach and rooftop Sky venues at 11pm, and only the ballroom and its terrace run to 1am.
- You are bringing a small group.The complimentary package needs 15 rooms for seven nights or 105 room nights, and the resort holds wedding groups to a four-night minimum. A smaller group pays the package fee outright, USD 1,250 for a symbolic ceremony or USD 1,750 for a civil one.
- You have guests staying off property.Off-property guests are capped at ten per cent of your wedding, and each one has to buy a USD 140 day pass that runs until the reception ends and is subject to how full the resort is.

- Gazebos and beach bar stop at 10pm, beach and rooftop Sky venues at 11pm, and only the ballroom and its terrace run to 1am.
- The free package needs 15 rooms for seven nights (105 room nights) with a four night group minimum; smaller groups pay the package fee outright.

- At the airportIgnore anyone offering a ride between the arrivals door and the curb, however official they look. Only pre-arranged and federally authorized transport may pick up at the terminal, and the walk-up offers are where the overcharge stories come from. Ride-hailing apps work for the trip back to the airport but are unreliable for arrivals, so do not plan a pickup around one.
- Book the drive before you flyReserve a private transfer in advance: the driver meets you with a name sign, at a fixed price agreed up front, and tracks your flight if it runs late. From behind the camera
How the light works here
Costa Mujeres sits on the Caribbean side of the peninsula, so this coast faces east: the sun rises over the water and sets behind the resort and the mainland. You will not get the shot of the sun dropping into the sea behind you at the altar, but by late afternoon the beach, the gazebos and the rooftop all fall into open shade while the sky over the water stays bright, so nobody squints through the vows. We generally set a ceremony about ninety minutes before official sunset, which puts the vows in that soft light and still leaves room for family groups and couple portraits. The sky here turns pastel rather than fiery, and blue hour is genuinely good because the shallow turquoise water keeps glowing and the white sand bounces light back onto faces.
The best time to start your ceremony
Arch's own rule for this coast is to begin the ceremony about 90 minutes before sunset, which leaves the vows in soft light and still keeps time for portraits. Start times are rounded to the half hour for these coordinates. Costa Mujeres, Quintana Roo. UTC-5 all year: the state left daylight saving in 2015. Times are town level, so they run within a couple of minutes of the property.

Twilight arrives fast once the sun is behind the tree line, so the portrait window up here is shorter than couples expect.
- Beach GazeboEast, on the sand, water behindReached by a wooden walkway, so nobody crosses sand in heels. Like the rest of the beachfront it goes into open shade before official sunset, which is exactly the light you want for vows.
- Beach AreaEast, open private sandThe most exposed of the ceremony sites and the best one at blue hour: the shallow turquoise water keeps glowing and the white sand bounces light back onto faces after the sun has gone.
