When another venue fits better

Every point below comes from the venue's own published terms and from documented weddings. None of it makes this a bad venue. It makes it the wrong one for some couples, and better to know now.

You are drawn in by a free ceremony package.The complimentary Yes I Do package is conditional on the room block. The resort's own wording is 'Free package for up to 10 rooms, for 3 nights, up to 20 people', so a headline price of zero really depends on how many guests actually stay on property.
You are bringing your own photographer.The Pure Love package bundles a three hour in-house photo package and DJ among its inclusions. Unless that element is swapped or credited, you are paying for coverage twice.
You want a complete number before you commit.Additional guest rates are published nowhere, and agencies have reported difficulty negotiating wedding packages here. Getting a complete written quote rather than a package headline takes time you have to build into the schedule.
You are booking late.Every wedding has to be contracted at least thirty days before the date, and officiant services carry a fee on top of every package, including the free one.

How the light works here

The Playa del Carmen shoreline faces east, so the sun does not set over the water here. It rises out of the Caribbean instead, which makes early morning the only window where the ocean is lit from the front, and it means the late afternoon light on Fuego Beach arrives soft and indirect as the sun drops behind the property. Plan the ceremony to finish roughly sixty to ninety minutes before sunset and protect that window for portraits, which in practice puts a December or January start near 4:30 in the afternoon and a June or July start closer to six. The thatched roofs over Cocina Palapa and Las Olas are the real weather and heat fallback, and they bounce warm light rather than giving you the flat shade of an indoor ballroom.

The best time to start your ceremony

Arch's own rule for this coast is to begin the ceremony about 90 minutes before sunset, which leaves the vows in soft light and still keeps time for portraits. Start times are rounded to the half hour for these coordinates. Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo. UTC-5 all year: the state left daylight saving in 2015. Times are town level, so they run within a couple of minutes of the property.
