How many guests can Hyatt Centric Playa del Carmen hold for a wedding?

Per the property's own wedding page the four bookable spaces are Alessia Day Club 300, UMI Urban Kitchen 100, C Grill 80 and Coba 70. Practically that means one space carries a wedding above 100 guests — the rooftop — and everything else is a support space. A wedding of about 70 has real choice; a wedding of 150 has exactly one room. Cvent's third-party listing shows a longer schedule including a Rooftop Lounge, The Cove Room, two UMI terraces and Beach House pool and lounge areas, but its areas disagree with hyatt.com and it is not the property's own wedding list.

When is the best time to get married at Hyatt Centric Playa del Carmen?

Arch's corridor guidance is November through April: dry, sunny and cooler, which is the window that suits beach and rooftop ceremonies. A March date sits inside it.

04The honest case against

When another venue fits better

Every point is drawn from the venue's own published terms and documented weddings. None of it makes this a bad venue.

You want the party to stop when you say so.This is the loudest corner of Playa del Carmen and the hotel sells it that way, placing itself next to Calle Corazón and Coco Bongo. Guests report music from the neighbouring bars running to two or three in the morning. It is a wonderful place to end a wedding and a hard place to get an early night.
You want one space to carry the whole day.Only the rooftop can. Alessia Day Club holds 300; after that the published spaces drop to 100, 80 and 70, and the property positions UMI and C Grill for pre- and post-wedding events rather than the wedding itself.
You assume the rooftop comes with the rooms.It does not. The hotel's own policy page states that access to Alessia Dayclub is not included with a stay. Your guests can be booked into the hotel and still be outside the venue your wedding is in, so put rooftop access for your block in writing alongside the event contract.
You are inviting children.Ask before you send the invitations. The 2024 rebrand described Downtown House as eighteen and over with Beach House as the family building, and the current property page states no age restriction at all and markets the rooftop to families. Both cannot be right, and only the hotel can tell you which applies to your date.
You want a number before you commit.There is no published wedding package, no minimum spend and no vendor policy anywhere on the property's site. Every commercial term is bespoke, which means a slower quote and more to negotiate than at a resort that prints its packages.
Your plan depends on the Beach House specifically.The two houses are a quarter mile apart and have been worked on separately. Guests have reported being moved from Beach House to Downtown House on the day of arrival during renovation, without notice. If the beach building is load-bearing for your weekend, name it in the contract.

The hotel is next door to Playa del Carmen's loudest nightlife, by its own description.
The rooftop that makes this venue is sold separately from the rooms, and it is a working day club as well as your wedding space.
A DJ pool party runs Thursday through Sunday as a standing resort-fee inclusion, which covers most wedding dates.
Whether children can attend is a real question here, not a formality.

06Getting here

Arrival, and where you get ready

6.1Fly into: Cancun International (CUN). Every direct route from the US and Canada lands there.
6.2Then drive: About fifty minutes to an hour and five, forty-two miles south down Highway 307, the single road that serves this whole coast. It is toll-free and dual-lane the entire way. An afternoon arrival adds ten or fifteen minutes through the corridor.
6.3Arriving at: Calle 12, between Fifth Avenue and Tenth. Quinta Avenida itself is pedestrian only, so no car reaches the hotel along it, drivers turn in off Tenth and stop at the door on Calle 12. The hotel valet parks from there. Give guests the street, not the avenue.
6.4Then know: There are two buildings a quarter mile apart. Downtown House on Calle 12 holds the rooftop and 92 rooms; Beach House is on the sand with 27 suites, about a five-minute walk that crosses the pedestrian avenue. Every taxi, transfer and delivery needs to be told which one.
6.5Tell guests: Send the exact hotel name and the street address, not the brand. Playa del Carmen also has a Hyatt Vivid and a Grand Hyatt, and Hyatt Ziva and Zilara sit further down the Riviera Maya. A guest searching 'Hyatt Playa del Carmen' can very easily book the wrong hotel.
6.6At the airport: Ignore anyone offering a ride between the arrivals door and the curb, however official they look. Only pre-arranged and federally authorized transport may pick up at the terminal, and the walk-up offers are where the overcharge stories come from. Ride-hailing apps work for the trip back to the airport but are unreliable for arrivals, so do not plan a pickup around one.
6.7Book the drive before you fly: Reserve a private transfer in advance: the driver meets you with a name sign, at a fixed price agreed up front, and tracks your flight if it runs late. 07Light and timing

How the light works at Hyatt Centric Playa del Carmen

Playa del Carmen faces east onto the Caribbean, so the sun rises over the water and sets behind the town. At street and beach level the shade line arrives early in the afternoon; the rooftop, being above the surrounding buildings, holds direct sun considerably longer.

The best time to start your ceremony

Arch's own rule for this coast is to begin the ceremony about 90 minutes before sunset, which leaves the vows in soft light and still keeps time for portraits afterwards. Start times are rounded down to the half hour. Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo. UTC-5 all year: the state left daylight saving in 2015. The town sits on an east-facing stretch of the Caribbean coast, so the sun rises over the water and sets behind the town.
