When another venue fits better
Every point is drawn from the venue's own published terms and documented weddings. None of it makes this a bad venue.
- You chose Tulum for the town.The postal address says Tulum, but the resort sits on Highway 307 at Tulkal, Chemuyil, north of Tulum town and well outside the Tulum beach hotel zone, so budget a taxi ride for anything in town.
- You want the party outdoors and running late.Outdoor venues have a 10:00 PM curfew while indoor spaces have none, so a party meant to run past ten has to move under a roof.
- You expect a good share of your guests to book elsewhere.The resort will waive the venue rental fee on select spaces if your room block covers at least 80 percent of your guests, which makes the room block a pricing lever rather than an afterthought.
- You have a caterer or a bar concept of your own.The property is tagged in-house caterer only and in-house suppliers only, so catering and bar are not open to outside companies even where other vendors are.
- Your date falls between May and October and the beach look is not negotiable.Sargassum is heaviest along this coast from roughly May to October. The resort's cove is sheltered by a natural barrier reef, which helps but is not a guarantee in a heavy surge.

- Ignore anyone offering a ride between the arrivals door and the curb, however official they look. Only pre-arranged and federally authorized transport may pick up at the terminal, and the walk-up offers are where the overcharge stories come from. Ride-hailing apps work for the trip back to the airport but are unreliable for arrivals, so do not plan a pickup around one.

How the light works at Conrad Tulum Riviera Maya
This is an east-facing Caribbean shoreline, so the sun rises over the water and sets behind the resort and the jungle rather than over the sea. That means the beach and the terraces drop into soft open shade well before official sunset, guests are not squinting into the light during vows, and the sky over the water turns a pastel gradient instead of burning gold. It also means the light goes quickly once the sun clears the tree line, so a ceremony starting around ninety minutes before sunset leaves room for portraits afterwards. Sunrise on the beach is the one moment here when the sun is genuinely over the water, and the resort itself flags it as a portrait slot. The property publishes its own backdrops away from the sand, including the lobby's grand wooden doors, the sculptural nests, the Saakbe stone path and a water mirror, all of which hold up after the beach light has gone.
The best time to start your ceremony
Arch's own rule for this coast is to begin the ceremony about 90 minutes before sunset, which leaves the vows in soft light and still keeps time for portraits afterwards. Start times are rounded down to the half hour. Tulum, Quintana Roo. UTC-5 all year: the state left daylight saving in 2015. Times are town level, so they run within a couple of minutes of the property.
