Coco B Isla is a collection of four privately rented oceanfront villas on the Sac Bajo peninsula of Isla Mujeres, a 25 minute boat ride from Cancun. It takes weddings from about 20 guests up to roughly 100 when the two largest villas are combined.

- You need arrival to be simple for older guests or anyone travelling heavy.Getting there is a three leg journey. Guests transfer by road from Cancun airport to a ferry terminal, cross by boat and then take an island taxi, so arrival timing, luggage and late night movement all need planning.
- You want the venue to have already solved the production.A villa wedding is a hands on production. You bring in the rentals, the lighting, the bar and the rest of the team, which makes a strong planner more important here than at an all inclusive resort.
- You are taking the sargassum free claim at face value.The property advertises a sargassum free location year round. Sargassum on this coast is unpredictable and changes daily, so ask what the beach actually looked like in your week in previous years.
- Your guest list is heading toward the top of the range.On site sleeping capacity is around 60 across the four villas, so a celebration at the upper end of 100 guests means part of your group stays elsewhere on the island and travels in for the day.
- You want a number to compare before you enquire.No wedding pricing is published. Both the event package and whole villa buyout rates are quoted on request, so budget conversations have to start with a direct inquiry to the property.

Arrival, and where you get ready

- The Sac Bajo peninsula on Isla Mujeres, on the western, Cancun facing side of the island rather than the main town.
- 6.4Tell guests
- The last leg is a boat. Put the ferry crossing in everyone's travel plan in writing, and agree in advance how people get back after the party.
- 6.5At the airport
- Ignore anyone offering a ride between the arrivals door and the curb, however official they look. Only pre-arranged and federally authorized transport may pick up at the terminal, and the walk-up offers are where the overcharge stories come from. Ride-hailing apps work for the trip back to the airport but are unreliable for arrivals, so do not plan a pickup around one.

How the light works at Coco B Isla
This site does not follow the usual Riviera Maya light. The villas sit on the Sac Bajo peninsula on the western, Cancun facing side of Isla Mujeres, and the property describes sunsets over the Mexican Caribbean and names Cielo as having the best sunset vistas on the island. On the mainland coast the sun rises over the water and sets behind the tree line, which drops beach ceremonies into soft open shade well before sunset; here the sun goes down over the water instead, so the late afternoon stays bright and direct rather than shaded. A ceremony set too early risks guests squinting into low sun, and an aisle pointed west puts the sun straight into the frame, so the orientation of the beach and pool deck setups is worth walking through on site before the start time is fixed. The palapa covered roof deck and the palapa lounges are the shaded options when the light is hard.
The best time to start your ceremony
Arch's own rule for this coast is to begin the ceremony about 90 minutes before sunset, which leaves the vows in soft light and still keeps time for portraits afterwards. Start times are rounded down to the half hour. Isla Mujeres, Quintana Roo. UTC-5 all year: the state left daylight saving in 2015. Times are town level, so they run within a couple of minutes of the property.
