How the light works at Casa de los Aluxes
Treat this as a jungle site rather than a beach one, because canopy is the thing that shapes the day. The published photographs from the wedding held here were made in late afternoon, with sun coming through the tree cover in hard patches across limestone and roots, which is beautiful but contrasty and rewards moving people into open shade or waiting for the sun to drop below the canopy line. Because the ceremony point in those images sits down beside an open grotto, the light there goes soft and blue well before the sky does, so the usable window at the ceremony can close earlier than a sunset time on paper suggests. The general rule for this corridor still applies: put the ceremony a few hours before sunset so the portraits land in golden light and the reception starts once the heat has come off.
